Job Description

A client is seeking to appoint a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Conveyancing Secretary with a stable work history for its Cape Town offices.

This is a full-time position ideally suited to a candidate with strong conveyancing experience and the ability to independently manage property transfer transactions from inception to finalisation, including post-registration finances.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Stable employment history
  • Proven experience as a Conveyancing Secretary attending primarily to property transfers;
  • Ability to independently manage files from file opening through to registration and finances after registration;
  • Experience to include:
  • Drafting transfer documentation;
  • Obtaining rates clearances;
  • Obtaining electrical, plumbing and other compliance certificates;
  • Obtaining body corporate and homeowners’ association clearances;
  • Liaising with clients, estate agents, municipalities and deeds office personnel;
  • Experience working on:
  • LexisConvey
  • e-Filing
  • Microsoft Office

Added Advantage:

Experience in bond registrations and/or bond cancellations will be an added advantage, as well as general administrative office experience and some GhostPractice or LawPractice experience.

  • Ability to manage high volumes and meet deadlines;

  • Strong understanding of conveyancing processes and Deeds Office procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing conveyancing files from inception to registration and finalisation;
  • Drafting and preparation of transfer documentation;
  • Liaising with clients, estate agents, municipalities, banks and correspondent attorneys;
  • Coordinating compliance certificates and clearance figures;
  • Monitoring progress of matters and ensuring adherence to deadlines;
  • Handling post-registration finances and administrative processes;
  • General administrative duties.
