Our client, a company specialising in the agricultural industry, is looking for a Credit Controller to join their team in Bapsfontein.

The Credit Controller is responsible for managing the full credit control function, including assessing customer creditworthiness, setting and reviewing credit limits, and minimising credit risk.

The role involves processing invoices and payments, reconciling accounts, capturing financial data in Pastel, and ensuring accurate debtor and creditor control.

It also includes collecting outstanding accounts, resolving payment issues, maintaining customer relationships, and reporting on receivables and credit risk to management.

The candidate must be able to manage a debtors book value of R16 – R19 million and a creditors book value of R11 million.

 

Responsibilities 

Credit Applications and Credit Control

  • Evaluating customer creditworthiness
  • Establishing and reviewing credit limits
  • Implementing credit control policies and procedures
  • Monitoring credit exposure and minimising bad debt risk
  • Conducting credit checks and regular credit reviews
  • Managing collections and payment follow-ups
  • Resolving payment queries, disputes, and arrangements
  • Reporting on accounts receivable and credit risk
  • Liaising with internal departments such as sales

 

Financial Administration and Pastel Functions

  • Processing invoices and credit notes (Microsoft Office & Pastel)
  • Weekly submission of invoices and statements to retailers
  • Capturing daily bank statements on Pastel
  • Matching payments to invoices
  • Reconciling delivery routes and cash-ups
  • Managing settlement discounts
  • Offsetting debtor/creditor balances (where approved)
  • Reconciling GL control accounts and subsidiary accounts
  • Maintaining accurate financial records

 

Reporting, Compliance and Support

  • Compiling credit and collections reports for management
  • Updating and maintaining company policies and procedures
  • Ensuring policy compliance and internal documentation control
  • Assisting finance team members and acting in a succession/support capacity
  • Training and supporting finance staff as part of succession planning
