Senior CCTV and Access Control Technician

My client a well-established security services company based in Midrand is seeking a highly experienced Senior CCTV and Access Control Technician to join their technical team.

This is a senior, hands-on role requiring a technician who can step in immediately and take full ownership of installations from day one. The successful candidate will be responsible for complete end-to-end installations, including CCTV systems, boom gates, access control, connectivity infrastructure, and full system support.

The role requires strong technical competence, leadership capability, and the ability to manage installations independently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and client service.

Key Responsibilities CCTV Systems (Installation to Support)

• Install, configure, and commission IP and analogue CCTV systems

• Install and configure NVRs, DVRs, and remote viewing platforms

• Mount, align, and program cameras according to site requirements

• Integrate CCTV systems into existing network environments

• Conduct full system testing and final commissioning

• Provide ongoing system support, troubleshooting, and upgrades

Access Control and Perimeter Security

• Install and configure biometric, RFID, and card-based access control systems

• Install and commission boom gates and vehicle access systems

• Install magnetic locks, strikes, readers, controllers, and related components

• Integrate access control systems with CCTV and network infrastructure

• Configure and support time and attendance systems where required

Infrastructure & Connectivity

• Install and terminate Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A cabling

• Install fibre connectivity lines where required

• Install network cabinets, patch panels, and data points

• Install containment including trunking, conduits, and cable trays

• Perform cable testing and ensure installations meet industry standards

• Ensure neat labelling and professional installation finish

Fault Finding and Maintenance

• Diagnose and resolve faults related to CCTV, access control, boom gates, and network connectivity

• Perform preventative maintenance and system upgrades

• Provide advanced troubleshooting support

• Respond to service calls and urgent client requests

Leadership and Client Engagement

• Lead installations and guide junior technicians where required

• Liaise with clients and contractors professionally onsite

• Ensure projects are completed within deadlines

• Conduct client handovers and provide system orientation

• Complete installation reports, job cards, and sign-off documentation

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 3-5 years’ hands-on experience in CCTV and access control installations

• Proven experience installing boom gates and perimeter security systems

• Strong experience in both installation and post-installation support

• Experience working on commercial and industrial projects

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Valid driver’s licence

Technical Competencies

• Strong understanding of IP networking fundamentals

• Advanced CCTV configuration and troubleshooting skills

• Access control system integration knowledge

• Experience with biometric and time & attendance systems

• Structured cabling and fibre installation knowledge

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
